Dr Francis Wong on Cartilage Repair in Asia at ICRS 2026

Dr Francis Wong will join the international faculty at the 8th ICRS Summit in Porto, Portugal, from 8 to 10 October 2026, where he will present the Asian perspective on cartilage repair.

Organised by the ICRS – International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society, this year’s summit carries the theme “Joint Preservation: The Regenerative Era is Underway”, with discussions spanning cartilage regeneration, tissue engineering, orthobiologics, and joint preservation.

As part of the session “Cartilage Repair in Other Parts of the World”, Dr Francis Wong will speak alongside faculty covering Europe, the United States, South America, and India. His presentation will include work involving T2 relaxation values (T2RV) following scaffold based cartilage repair, together with techniques and clinical experience from across Asia.

Beyond the scientific programme, Dr Francis Wong will continue his involvement with ICRS as Deputy Committee Chair of NextGen. During the summit, he will join its career mentoring panel alongside clinicians and researchers from several countries, supporting the development of younger members of the cartilage community.

Both roles sit alongside his clinical work at Oxford Cartilage & Sports Centre, which centres on cartilage repair, cartilage regeneration, and joint preservation, the same areas under discussion in Porto. Taking part allows him to share what has been learnt in Asia with colleagues from other regions, and to draw on their experience in return.
