Cartilage problems are easy to associate with getting older. Yet that’s no longer the full picture, as younger and more active adults can also be affected in ways that aren’t always recognised early. In many cases, the issue only comes into focus once pain, stiffness, or reduced function begins to interfere with daily life, with earlier symptoms being ignored or explained away as something minor.
With this focus in mind, Dr Francis Wong joined Aurora Tang on 96.3好FM to talk about cartilage health. He spoke about what cartilage is, the role it plays in the joint, why knee cartilage defects are affecting a wider group of patients, and what listeners should understand about recognising these problems earlier. He also touched on “cartilage age”, early warning signs, and the broader treatment pathway when joint damage becomes more advanced.
